Do you take insurance?
At this time MGS Counseling & Therapy Services, LLC does not accept third party payments. There are several reasons why we do not work with insurance companies.
Typically insurance will only cover couples counseling if one partner has a mental health diagnosis. When paying out of pocket, diagnosis is not necessary.
Your insurance provider will only pay for what they deem “medically necessary” and then they determine how many sessions you are allowed to have. When you privately pay, we work together to decide what is best for you.
When you use a third party, your information from our session is not confidential from your insurance provider as they require case notes and treatment plans.
It’s my personal belief that there is a therapist for everyone. I encourage all perspective clients to shop around for the right therapist. This is why I offer a free 15 minute consultation, so we can go over what your needs are and how we might work together. Their is no commitment.
Are our conversations kept confidential?
The law protects the relationship between therapist and client, and your information cannot be disclosed without written permission. However, there are certain exceptions.
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm him or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
